About SHP files
The shapefile from Esri is the classic format for vector GIS data. It comes as a set of files: .shp for the shapes, .dbf for the attributes and .prj for the coordinate system.
- A .shp file alone, or a ZIP with its .dbf, .prj and .cpg files
- Coordinates reprojected from the .prj, such as UTM or Gauss-Krüger
- Attribute table and layer list
- Converts to GeoJSON, KML or CSV
